![]() ![]() Really guys please help I'm a total mess. This means so much to me that I don't even care about spam and I'll post my email address. I doubt I'd be able to trade it in (even with my mods) and break even. I'm 20 years old and have no idea what the **** to do I owe $15000 on the car still and its got 25k on it already. If you can fix whatever the problem is I would pay you right away of course and name my first born son after you, but even if someone who knows more than me can look at it and diagnose it but not fix it.thats an amazing start. If there is someone in MASS that can look at the car today or sometime asap. I don't know who to ask cuz the dealers will just tell me to go **** myself. If anyone can help me please I really can't deal with this right now. I just had to chomp 6 klonopins at work cuz I'm stressing out so much. I have severe anxiety and this is killing me. I just hope its not some catastrophic engine failure I really don't know what to do at all. It sounds like its coming from under the valve cover (but I don't know much at all). I almost want to sell the car over this because of how scared i am. The idle is dropping down to 600 or 700 and its idling like pure ****. Is there an official idle RPM number for our civics? Is this even possible? And if so, how does one do this? Also, couple folks seem to say their idle is at 750. I remember the Honda service adviser mentioning that they were thinking of manually setting the idle but he said they couldn't because this was ECU controlled etc. Isn't this an indication that my battery was disconnected? Does the ECU automatically get reset when the battery gets disconnected? Probably not. I noticed that my Navi radio was asking for the security code. I heard that our idle is controlled by the ECU so is there any way of setting this RPM to 750? I think I also heard, resetting the ECU but I think the mechanics did that some time ago when my car was initially taken in for a short engine block replacement. Of course, it came back, but that's because of course, it looks like my idle had dropped back down the usual 600RPM and not the 700 or so of what I was experiencing the other day. The smooth non-idling situation I had the other day was definitely short-lived. HONDA CIVIC IDLE RPM MANUAL PORTABLEIt idles like there's a portable massager near the arm rest. How much of fuel consumption (and money) do you guys think is being wasted with a 100 RPM difference? Ideally, the lower the RPM, the more fuel efficient. I guess the engineers have to balance between keeping the motor reving happy at idle and not conking out. Out of curiosity, what's been the idle RPM for the prev. From what I understand, the idle is ECU controlled, etc. Maybe my car has finally readjusted itself to 700 RPM. My question: Does anyone know what the normal idle RPM is for our 8th gen civics? I have a 06 civic ex sedan manual. So, I felt another solution had to be there and I just decided to live with this minor vibration.ħ00 seems to be the threshold where the engine will not vibrate the car, etc. but after engine warmup, it would drop to 600 and start to vibrate, etc.) But, I never felt comfortable setting the RPM to a higher number just to counteract the vibration if that was not in the normal idle RPM guideline. Well, as it was NOT vibrating today, I noticed that the idle RPM was at 700 RPM and not the usual 600, so this kind of made sense as my car was always in perfect temperment at start (RPM at 1200 RPM,etc. I think they even tinkered with motor mounts, etc. I even have taken this to a Honda dealership and they have said that this is normal. I was able to note that it was at 600 RPM when it annoyingly vibrated at idle. In the past, I have been bitchin' about the vibration I was experiencing when my car was at idle. This might be a short lived thing, but my car was surprisingly not vibrating at idle. I took my car for a spin after giving a good wash. ![]()
